Is anyone else having luck getting to see their journals over at lj?  All I've gotten this week is Auth fail. No idea what it means except my friend s page won't load but other communities I use will at least let me see the post even if I can't access anything.

Any ideas, suggestions, or advise?

People are being catty about her talent, why is a well presented story of personal experience not considered an intellectual talent as opposed to a physical talent. Had she presented a recognized monolog by a famous person, it would have been said that she was using acting ability; but because it was a chapter of her life story it's fair game to laugh at her. Seems very 1915 of us.
It has always been my beef that if we are judging women for their poise and grace, maybe we should dress them and see how they recover from a gaffe. Let's see how see handles a broken heel when meeting a potential boss. Let's see how she reacts to a split seam, in front of a room full of senior citizens. Suppose a waitress split a tray of drinks on her while she's waiting to interview with a judge during the poliminary rounds? If her evening dress is moldy when it's delivered to her, either after the trip to the contest or terror of terrors in the 5 minutes to get into place?

 an old friend has passed
i just got the call,
i will miss him
even though i rarely saw him
he was always just there.
he was the last of that generation of my adoptive family,
he out lived his wife, his son's father and mother in law;
he spend tons of time tracing ancestors
and had only one grandson and three grand daughters.
when his grandson married and declared "no kids"
he despaired the end of the famly name...
the girls taught him to never under estimate the women of the line.
"oh, you wanted us to get maried first?"
he was old fashioned,
he was grumpy,
he was a chauvinist of the highest degree,
but he was ours and he was loved.
HE WILL BE MISSED.

i begin to suspect that i am suffering from time travel between my world and this one:
for the past four years i have used the same 7 digit password for my atm card, and suddenly it tells me that i can't access my account. i traipse off to the bank and ask whats up. seems that i locked myself out by entering a bad password multiple times, give us two shakes and you can enter a new number... but i like that number .... well fine just enter it in.... wait that can't be your old password... of course it is ... no, we only use four numbers, i've never heard of us using more.

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com , you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq/Afghanistan. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a few minutes.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.

This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's.

Thanks for taking to time to support our military!

well, they say that if i brag about it before the start of november, i will embarrass myself into trying to finish it:

IT is my own personal novel-- self written and done in thirty days (november).

nanowrimo has a longish history and i have an on-line friend who wants to finish a novel so she signed up and i thought i'd be a better cheer-er if i knew what she was facing so i'll try to write the same quantity of words as she does each day, i know her quality of writing is better than mine but that's a given.

been a while since i said much of anything on here BUT i just read the most elequent story arc and have to pass it on in case any star trek fans have missed it.

yes it's about kirk and mc coy as a couple so some of you will pass, but it is a truly touching story and the story line is exceptional... would challenge you to read it in spite of your own predjudices if you can. this isn't so much a love story as a telling of deep emotional connections,

i really think that there's a universal story in this arc and i would hope that some of the people who i know on line would enjoy the richness of the authors skill.

I am not a great social advocate but this idea has grown on me:

I would like to challenge each person in America, in memory of the dead from Fort Hood; take $13 dollars out of your holidays plans and donate it in the name of the deceased to a local food bank. Can't afford it, take thirteen packages of ramen noodles to the local food bank, commit thirteen hours of volunteer time, take twelve others and go to the local blood bank. We can not undo the great and traumatic week that the members of the military and their families are suffering and we can't all go to Ford Hood and help but we each can take a moment of our lives and try to make a difference in some one in our communities life.
